Please consider the db ratio of the transmit signal to the receive signal. A duplexer with four cans (two on receive, two on transmit) will offer 65 db to 90 db isolation between receive and transmit frequencies. That ratio is fixed once tuned so increasing power output will decrease sensitivity of the repeater. Repeaters with poor isolation pulse on then off due the transmit signal desencing the receiver on the repeater so the system just pulses the transmitter on and then off everything the input signal is acquired then “lost”. This is very easy to demonstrate with a Fustion repeater and a weak input signal like an portable transceiver.
